30 Minutes of Effectiveness

Today I'd like to talk to you about something to powerful yet so fundamental. I want to explain to you a tool that I have created, that I use to increase my own personal effectiveness in my life. This can help you to accomplish weekly, monthly, or annual goals, help you to become a better communicator, help you to take control of your life, become a better partner in your relationship and practically anything else you can think of.

Think about this for a second. We live in such an information thick world right? Everywhere you go, no matter what you are doing, you are bombarded with sensory information. Things are happening, people are being people, events are taking place, and so on. When do you really have time to improve yourself? I mean, in 2010, who goes home and sits down to think of ways that they can be more effective in their lives? People disregard that as ridiculous, as ridiculous as that sounds. People are to busy, getting "caught up" in reacting, and not giving themselves the opportunity to effectively respond to life. Does this sound like you? Do you think it will make a difference if you took some time to think about ways you can improve? Keep reading, that is if you want to truly create the kinds of experiences you're after.

I read a book called Focal Point, by Brian Tracy, and in this book I learned something that changed my life. The principle simply was, sit down, figure out what you are doing in your life that is leading you away from your goals, and then make a decision to STOP. And also to sit down and identify what has helped you, what patterns you have that move you towards what you want in your life, and then resolve to do more of that. That's essentially the idea here, but there's more. Here is my strategy for an increase of effectiveness in your life.

Sit down, for 30 minutes, 3 days out of your week, and think of 3 things in your life you want to improve. Day 1 is the first thing, day 2 the second and so on. So if you decided one of the three is going to be "I want to improve my body and start exercising more," you would devote that to day 1. On day 1, you take 30 minutes out of your day, and if you think you're to busy to shape your life the way you want it to be, you'll never get anything done, and in this 30 minute period, think specifically about that one thing. Concentrate hard on it. Engage your senses to think about you already having achieved this new thing, this improvement in your life. Write down on a piece of paper the things you can do that will bring you closer to this goal, and then make a decision that in the next week, come hell or high water, you will absolutely take those actions. Identify some of the things that have stopped you in the past from taking this action. Write them down on paper, and make the decision that you will not engage in any of these things. And if you have time leftover, just sit and think about how you can be more effective in this thing. Approach this exercise with a completely open mind, a quiet room and the belief that this will help you tremendously. Do this 3 days out of the week with 3 things you want to become more effective in and I guarantee you that your life will show you the results in time.

You see, we have all we need to survive above water, but if you had the opportunity, or in this case the strategy to build a boat that can take you across the water a lot more smooth, all while giving you incredible pleasures along the way, would you use it? Listen, no matter where you are in your life, you can improve. This can be the one spark you need to raise your true inner conqueror from within your body to come out. Everyone has in them, a person that is truly capable of doing great things. What do you want for your life? Where do you really want to be and how do you truly want to feel? Guess what, you can have it all, you can achieve those feelings, and you can accomplish those goals. Make the decision. Use this tool, take the 30 minutes and actually think about your life instead of just winging it, you'll be happy that you did. Report back to me if this helped you in your life! This is Ryan Critchett with the Power of Achievement.
