Language Determines Mood

Today I'd like to talk to you about language. I don't want to explain language arts, if you're learning a new language, GREAT, good luck, but what we're going to immerse ourselves in today is the fact that the words you choose to use, both with your self in your mind, and out loud, determine the kind of mood you put yourself in. Have you ever tried to pinpoint exactly what kind of mind state you are in at any given moment in your day? For example, you could be really frustrated over something that really ticked you off at work, and you may go for the rest of the day feeling that way without any real attempt to influence your own state. At that time, what would happen if you stopped, you analyzed and said "how do I feel right now, why do I feel this way and most importantly, HOW can I change it." If you ask yourself the right questions, you'll get the right answers.

What kind of feeling do you have right now, as you're reading this article? If you could, what could you feel magnificent about? What could you really just throw your hands up and shout "I feel great" about? Cmon, I know you can think of something. What in your experience truly makes you feel fulfilled? Think of those things for a moment, and then continue reading.

Problems, do you have them in your life? What kinds of problems? Are you upset about something on a consistent basis? Do you find yourself in bad moods more than good moods? Do you know why? Most people live their entire lives not knowing how to control their own brain. Going in and out of negative states all of the time, without any real conscious interjection. Now I want you to notice how you feel, right now as you're reading this section. Is it different than when you were reading the section before it? When you were thinking about what's magnificent in your life? You see, the language that I use determines your state, just as the language (words) you use everyday in your life, both in your head and out loud, determine your state. Become aware of the words that put you in a negative place in your mind, and start to cultivate the habit of using powerful words to direct your own mind.

Powerful Language: I can, I can't wait, I get to, I will, life is an experience, I will have an extraordinary day, something you'll never forget, take command of your mood, the time is now, you own your life, thoughts become things, visualization, personal power, ingenuity, tackle life's challenges!

Disempowering Language: I can't, I won't, it's impossible, restrictions, limitations, obligations, I have to,  problems, upset, negative, not worth it, morose, "how are you doing"... "NOT TO BAD," I just want to.. and so on.

Here is your assignment. I want you to understand this personally, not intellectually. For the next 5 days, all it is is 5 days, use all empowering language and STOP yourself whenever you find yourself using disempowering, limiting language. Use only the optimized, not the restrictive. Notice the significant shift this makes in your everyday experience. Notice how much more enriched your life becomes as a result of the words you use both in your communication with yourself in your head, and your communication, out loud, with others. Discover the true power of saying the right things and lastly, have an amazing next 5 days. Thanks for reading, this is Ryan Critchett from Power of Achievement.
